St. Mary’s R.C. Primary School

St. Mary's R.C. Primary School is situated in a residential area of Chepstow. The school was opened in 1969 and it has strong links with our Church and parish. Its mission is to promote Christian values in every aspect of the school. The School has strong links with the local community and has a very active successful PTA. The School admits children from 4 to 11 years of age. The school draws children from the Catholic Parish of Chepstow, Caldicot and Magor as well as from other families who wish their children to have a Christian education. Currently there are 190 children on roll that are taught in seven single age classes.

The school's priorities include providing children with a balanced curriculum and the opportunity to develop their academic abilities. The school seeks to recognise the uniqueness of each child and to nurture their feelings of self-worth. Teachers know the children are well cared for and have established a caring atmosphere where all pupils feel valued and safe. The school is continuing to strengthen the relationship between home, school and parish. The school aims for its children to be well-motivated individuals supporting the society in which they live.

School Refurbishment Appeal 2008 - 2013

"No Pane, No Gain"

The school has recently been refurbished with new windows, new paths, fencing and some resurfacing. The modernisations have greatly improved the school and most importantly, will benefit all present and future children from this parish. St. Mary's is a very caring and successful Catholic school that has achieved many awards. The school was recently highly praised by both Estyn and Archdiocesan Inspectors.

St. Mary's is a voluntary school which means that the school has to pay 15% of the refurbishment costs which equates to in the region of £70,000. The school has borrowed this money over a five year period and, with your help we are hoping to raise £14,000 per year to pay the loan back. This is a big task but it can be achieved if the school and parish "pools" its resources and ideas.

To help us raise some of the money, the school and parish are seeking sponsorship from both businesses and individuals and we would truly welcome any donations you feel you may be able to contribute. In return for this help, a plaque will be produced for all sponsors (unless anonymity is requested) and displayed in a prominent position in the school - imagine your family's name on a plaque in the school for evermore.
We hope you feel that St. Mary's is worth it, particularly as the children of many parish families are, have been or will be educated at St. Mary's. This is a golden opportunity to strengthen the special Catholic bond between home, school and parish.
If you would like to help St. Mary's RC School Refurbishment Appeal 2008 - 2013 by making a donation, this can be done either as a monthly standing order or as a one-off payment.
A bank account has been set up for our appeal and the details are:

St. Joseph's R.C. High School

St Joseph’s RC High School places great emphasis on the whole development of every child. This development is firmly based on Gospel values. Every child is valued as a unique individual, precious to God. The curriculum is wide and provides opportunities for your child to make the most of his or her God-given abilities. We do our best to ensure that every one of our children, whatever their strengths or weaknesses, feels cared for and challenged.

The school aims to make learning and teaching as interesting as possible. Our pupils are given strategies to enable them to become more effective learners. We want our pupils to develop a love of learning and become life long learners. The range of extra-curricular opportunities in sport, drama and music, enables everyone to develop their interests and talents. We are justly proud of our School’s academic record and every year large numbers of our students enter universities to take degree courses. A very large proportion of our pupils at the end of their fifth year return to the sixth form.
